buffer based on SOA


All of this give a new train of thought to the research of optical buffer based on SOA, and contain certain value.This thesis mainly research Dual-loop Optical Buffer (DLOB) based on GT-SOA , which is from horizontal "8" shaped structure but changed the core device of original buffer program. A new "read-write" method is achieved, which made the use of GT-SOA's transparency effects to the 1550nm signal light. Firstly, the performance of GT-SOA has been determined and transparency effects to the signal light have been found, and polarization rotation phenomenon has also been observed. Then through a series of experiments, including the synchronous experiments of signal light and control light, optical switching experiments, loop length measurement experiments, the "read-write" experiments, and storage of data frames is realized. Meticulous researches of buffer structure are made, suggestions to improve the program are proposed, and power compensation in the loop is realized, as while as avoiding the generation of "fake" leak. The NOLM switch and polarization rotation switch based on GT-SOA are proposed in this thesis, and all the desired results have been achieved.
